Elocution and Public Speaking

Programme Overview

Persuasive presentation requires a clear structure, confident physical presence, effective body language, and the ability to create vivid imagery in the minds of the audience. The roots of modern public speaking can be traced back to Ancient Greece and Rome, where, despite lacking the technological tools we use today (such as slideshows), there was a strong need for public oration. The Greeks referred to public speaking as rhetoric, primarily using it to persuade and influence others. Similarly, public speaking played a key role in the political assemblies of the Roman government, and the techniques developed in those times are still studied and applied today.
